THE PERFECT PAIR: WHAT SHOES TO WEAR WITH JEANS/DENIM

Denim jeans are a wardrobe staple that never go out of style and one of my personal favorites and go-to’s! They are versatile, comfortable, and can be dressed up or down for any occasion. However, a huge topic lately with clients is choosing the right shoes to wear with your jeans. They can make or break your outfit. In this blog post, we'll guide you through to help you discover the perfect pairs of shoes to match with different types of jeans. Shop my denim edit here!

Classic Straight-Leg Denim:

The timeless straight-leg denim is a go-to for many, offering a flattering silhouette that suits various body types.  This style is incredibly versatile and can be paired with a wide range of shoes. For a casual look, slip into a pair of white sneakers/loafers or flats. To dress up the look, opt for ankle boots or pumps. The length of straight-leg jeans allows you to showcase your footwear effortlessly. My rule of thumb for length on straight leg jeans, depending on the look you are going for. Ankle: you want to aim for them to hit at the smallest part of your leg, ideally between your ankle bone or about one inch above. Longer: just below the ankle, hitting your heel, but not long enough to drag. A lot of times you will have to have your jeans tailored, nothing a great tailor can’t fix! Play around here a bit to see what works for you and what you are comfortable in / feel the most confident in. I love both and tend to interchange.

Wide-leg Denim:

Effortless and cool, wide leg denim jeans offer a relaxed and casual vibe. Pair these jeans with a playful, sporty look by choosing sneakers or trendy slip-on shoes. For a touch of femininity, wear them with strappy sandals or wedges. Cuff the jeans at the ankles to show off your shoes and add a little extra flair to your outfit. Again, don’t be afraid of your tailor!

Flared or Bootcut Denim:

Flared or bootcut denim is back on the fashion radar, bringing a touch of '70s nostalgia to your wardrobe. These jeans create a long and lean silhouette, making them ideal for pairing with heels. Block heels or platform shoes work wonders with this style, providing comfort and elevating your look. Embrace your inner bohemian by opting for wedges or suede mules to complete the retro-inspired ensemble.

Choosing the right shoes to wear with your denim can take your outfit from good to great. Remember, it's all about finding the perfect balance between style and comfort. Whether you're rocking classic straight-leg jeans or wide-leg, there's a perfect pair of shoes to complete your look. Experiment with different styles and embrace your personal style. With the right shoes, you'll step out with confidence, ready to conquer the world in your denim.
